Unique & Perfect Farewell

This morning's service was filled with laughter, tears, arm waving and singing. It was very unique celebration of a ladies life, whose daughter has learning issues. A continuity of language that had previously been used and not seeing the coffin witheverything focused on celebrating her life. The daughter sang along to the songs played, choosing to stand at the lecturn and using the microphone. There was no farewell or committal, but the daughter had requested to sing 'Leaving On A Jet Plane,' which she did, others joined in and as she waved her arms around, others did too, including myself. Although in a crematorium, it was unlike any other service, but beautifully befitting for the lady we were saying goodbye to and appropriate for her daughter, who enjoyed it so much, once outside, she asked me if we could do it again. Reflection was a summary of The Invisible String. There was a section on Friendship. Everyone left saying it was different and memorable - for all the right reasons. Though played many times as exit music, previously I would not have considered 'Leaving On A Jet Plane' as the perfect Farewell, but it couldn't have been more befitting.
All ceremonies should be unqiue, special and memorable.
