Saying Goodbye to Furry Friends

Pets are an important and integral part of family life.

For some they are their only company.

For children they are a learning point of how to care for something and be responsible for a life.

They are a great comfort, a loyal companion, a play mate and so much more.

Saying goodbye to a furry family member is very hard, for children they may find it harder than saying goodbye to an extended family member. The grief experienced is very real and not to be under estimated.

Take time to say farewell.

take time to honour and respect each others feelings.

Take time to talk about how you are feeling.

Share photos and memories.

Treat the pets death as you would a human death.

If having him/her cremated, did you know you can take your pet to the crematorium yourself?

Did you know you can have a Celebrant led ceremony?

If a small pet, you may chose to bury him/her in the garden.

Whatever you do, hold onto your memories and allow yourself to grieve.
