Children Attending Funerals

So often we hear, "funerals are not for children", yet every funeral I have officiated with children in attendance, the children have been pleased they attended. Death is a natural part of life and children's fears are most commonly taught. If they are told funerals are frightening, this is what they will think when the day comes as an adult and they have to attend one. If they taught they are a time to say goodbye and share memories, they will not be frightened. Of course bubbles and teddy bears afterwards, always help and put a smile on their faces.
